Job Description:
Zachry is currently seeking an experienced Project Environmental Stewardship Coordinator position for new construction work in Orange, TX.
Responsibilities:
The Project Environmental Stewardship Coordinator (Coordinator) works under the direction of the Project Environmental Stewardship Manager at the construction site and assists with all project site environmental compliance activities as required by government regulations, permits, contracts, and other environmental requirements as applicable.
The Coordinator assists project management and various crafts and departments as necessary to maintain environmental compliance and promote stewardship.
The Coordinator will assist the field implementation of common Environmental program requirements such as stormwater control, spill prevention and remediation, waste management, craft awareness, and incident response.
Job Functions and Requirements Assists Project Environmental Stewardship Manager on compliance issues.
Assists implementation and update of the Project Environmental Control Plan.
Coordinate and oversee environmental operations to ensure regulatory compliance.
Perform regular site inspections to demonstrate environment compliance.
Stay updated with new developments in environmental policies and regulations.
Provide assistance and job trainings to team members when required.
Assist serious incident reviews to identify contributing factors associated with environmental incidents and work with team to propose appropriate action plans.
Assess potential environmental risks and develop mitigation plans.
Work with cross-functional teams to maintain environmental management and monitoring programs.
Follow and enforce environmental health and safety procedures.
Work with management to schedule periodic maintenance and upgrade activities.
Identify areas of improvements to reduce environmental damages and wastes.
Maintain complete and clear documentations for environmental operations for reference purposes.
Daily site inspections including preparation of daily reports or logs Assists with permit management and implementation Assist coordination of corrective action for compliance deficiencies Spill response and mitigation including assistance with incident reports Assist personnel orientation and training in environmental responsibilities Assist Environmental Stewardship Manager with Subcontractor environmental commitments Waste storage, handling, and disposal management assistance according to regulations Petroleum storage and handling oversight including fuel storage tanks, drums and containers, lubricants, and other petroleum by-products Assist Project Environmental Stewardship Manager with additional environmental responsibilities as may be required Animal and endangered species control Assist Environmental Stewardship Manager with material recordkeeping and storage oversight including Flammable Storage Cabinets Work outdoors 60 to 75% Required
Qualifications:
High School Graduate or GED Personable and able to work with all levels of construction project crafts and management personnel to successfully coordinate and complete work requirements.
Self-starter able to take charge with minimum supervision Must possess all Knowledge Skills and Abilities for positions Must be able to meet all physical requirements Be able to climb at heights Must be able to work scheduled hours and any additional overtime as needed Preferred
Qualifications:
Advanced training or education in Environmental or Technical Field, or education and experience commensurate with job requirements.
1 to 3 years of experience in construction and environmental work is preferred.
Knowledgeable of the many construction project site environmental compliance issues and applicable regulations including but not limited to Storm Water Best Management Practices; Spill Prevention and Management, wetlands, process water control, waste storage and disposal, and fuel storage.
Good verbal and writing skills Ready to work in remote locations if required Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with people they interact with.
Computer skills in MS Word, beneficial.
Minimum Education required (none, high school, AA, BA, etc.
):
High School Physical Requirements Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting.
Will talk and hear to communicate.
Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull:
objects, materials, controls and tools.
May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, work off of platforms and man lifts, and may occasionally work out on an open structure using the appropriate fall protection requirements.
Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to:
hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and leather work boots.
